Re-Alignment of Zip Codes for Bay Area California cases.

“In an effort to continue improvement in customer service in District 21, the San Jose Field Office will be realigning 7 zip codes in south Alameda county back under the San Francisco Field Office starting December 1st. These zip codes were temporarily realigned to the San Jose Field Office several years ago based on shifting workloads and operational needs. Based on current processing times in both offices it is now appropriate to return those zip codes back to the San Francisco Field Office and align them with other zip codes in Alameda County. This will enhance customer service and eliminate the confusion of Alameda county being split between two offices for customer service and application filing.

The following zip codes will be realigned under the San Francisco Field Office and new applications and service requests filed after that date will be sent to San Francisco:

94538 Fremont

94539 Fremont

94550 Livermore

94560 Newark

94586 Sunol

This shifting workload will apply only to newly filed applications, petitions, and Infopass appointments, submitted on or after December 1st. Applications and petitions currently located in the San Jose Field Office will continue to be processed at that location and applicants should report to the address indicated on any notification received, regardless of the shift in work load. During this transition our offices will continue to offer assistance to applicants impacted by this change with flexibility and continued customer service, but for interviews and the submission of documentation, it is important that applicants appear where their casework is located.”
