Asylum Waiting Times
How long to wait on the Asylum that was filed? It is common to be asked this question and we have seen people waiting for years before getting an interview. On March 11, 2016, USCIS released an Affirmative Asylum Bulletin defining how affirmative asylum cases are prioritize and also giving a table which according to USCIS should be updated on a monthly basis. A copy of the table is found below without, the details of the cases not included in the chart. We hope it helps. This is for Category 3
Their priority are as follows:
“1.) Applications that were scheduled for an interview, but the interview had to be rescheduled at the applicant’s request or the needs of USCIS;
2.) Applications filed by children; and
3.) All other pending affirmative asylum applications in the order they were received, with oldest cases scheduled first.
